Hyppolyte-Victor Collet-Descotils (1773-1815) estis franca kemiisto, inĝeniero kaj mineralogo, kiu partoprenis en la Napoleona Ekspedicio al Egiptio, en 1798. Li estis lernanto kaj amiko de Louis Nicolas Vauquelin kaj famiĝis ĉar li konfirmis la malkovron de la kemia elemento kromio far Vauquelin, kaj sendepende malkovris la iridion, en 1803.
